Have a very Festive Fourth!

I have always loved the Fourth of July. It has always been one of my favorite holidays because it has such a positive emotion behind it. It celebrates the same freedom that we are still living for and fighting for today . There is a sense of camaraderie among Americans during this time, I love it. Patriotic Pride is everywhere, and I can't get enough of it. I love taking a few days to celebrate how much I love this country, and thankfully there are so many ways to celebrate it!

Decor. Just hanging the classic American flag is really all you need for decorations...BUT if you want to do a little more, you could see Martha's Craft of the Day: these Paper Fan Decorations for your back patio. If only we had somewhere in my backyard. Maybe on the rain gutters going down? haha.

Food! One thing I look forward to every year is the July issue of Martha Stewart Living Magazine. It is filled with red, white and blue to the max and always has the best recipes and crafts. These cookies are on this month's cover and they look absolutely delicious! How I'd love one with a big glass of lemonade. Mmmmm!!!

Drinks. Now, I'm all for lots of lemonade and that's really all I need to be happy with my Fourth of July BBQ. However, if I was ambitious, I would want to try this recipe, with a few modifications to substitute things I don't like. But still, it looks very festive!

Fashion! Now, this is what I'm talking about! I go all out for the fourth outfits wise. I support my colors for four days, wearing outfits that are (hopefully) not corny, but cute and very patriotic! This is just one of the few outfits I have planned that will fit every occasion this weekend. (The clutch is also featured here...I'm addicted).

Film. My uncle introduced us to Yankee Doodle Dandy a few years ago and we've made it a tradition to watch it on the fourth ever since. It's a fantastic old musical! I'm in love with the singing, the dancing, the spirit (oh and it's black and white if you love black and white films!). Watch it this year if you've never seen it before! I love it.

And of course, fireworks. Who could forget 'em? The displays around where I live are always so fantastic and I can't wait to be in awe once again this year.

Everyone have a safe and happy weekend with family and friends, sharing patriotic spirit all weekend long (I know I will!). I am so proud to be an American and I can't wait to celebrate our Independence once again. Happy Fourth Weekend Everyone!

  1. Have an amazing 4th! I am super excited for this weekend, but a little bummed because in Texas we have a fireworks ban, so no sparklers for us :(
