Boxes and Jewels

Hi friends! Last week I took my old sterilite jewelry container to pieces and went through all of my jewelry and chose what to keep, toss etc. I settled on a new system to organize it, and so far I'm pretty happy with it! I can see everything that I have, and I can change it around too if I want to take some pieces and display them on my window sill if the mood strikes!

I opted to hold my big statement necklaces and chunky bracelets in old Brooks Brother's boxes that we had saved from Christmas and they fit them perfectly!

On my window sill, I decided to add some more jewels there in vintage tea cups that belonged to my aunt. They fit the sill perfectly and I think that they are a great option to fit small jewels like rings and earrings!

I'm happy with how everything looks and I can't wait to get to my bedside tables and work on those now!

Hope you all had fabulous weekends!

Style those Jewels!

All of my family and friends know that I absolutely love jewelry! I love classic pieces and big statement necklaces and stacks of bangles and colorful earrings (all of course never in one outfit, but you get my drift!). Last week I mentioned that I was cleaning out my closet and it looks great! It was fantastic to get rid of the things that just sat there, and organize the pieces that I did in weight and color order. I feel so much better. Now I have just a few projects left in my room and one of them is to organize my jewelry.

I took some time earlier yesterday, just for fun, rummaging through old Glitter Girls articles on The Glitter Guide. These are just my favorites to read, because, for a few minutes, you get to see the lives of these girls who live these high powered lives and have fantastic blogs, plus their closets and homes are absolutely gorgeous. The photography is amazing and I just love seeing how they organize their jewels. Yes, we've probably all seen images like these before, but I can't help but get inspired that maybe my jewels can be styled this well:

Ok, so some of them are a bit over the top, but I do love how these ladies style their jewels. Jewelry just looks prettier when it's arranged in pretty ways: no knots, no fuss, just gorgeous jewels serving their purpose. How do you style yours? Do you use saucers? Egg trays? I'd love to know to get some advice for my future desk! (and when I say desk I mean my bay window sill. I have no room for a desk!)

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Closet Cleanse

Ok, we all know that with New Years resolutions come new goals. One of mine is always to clean out my closet to know what I need the most and purge what I haven't found use for as of late. I always give my donations to a box at our church that gives to people who need clothing. Who else cleans out their closets for the New Year?

I'm trying to stick with basics and accessories as much as possible, so here's one of those lists on Pinterest with the 50 best items every woman needs:

Who has these basics? Anything you'd love to have that you're missing? The One Hundred by Nina Garcia also has the 100 items that every woman needs. Honestly, it's a great read and a great way to figure out what you really NEED in your closet.

Happy Closet Cleanse!
